In the autumn of 2011, the artist Grayson Perry will stage an exhibition at the British Museum. In a major departure for both artist and Museum, Grayson will create a mysterious new civilisation – a civilisation built around Grayson himself. The exhibition will consist of a mixture of objects Grayson has chosen from the British Museum’s collection and objects he is making himself. The show will celebrate the many unknown craftsmen who have created the objects in the Museum, and explore the continuing religious power and significance which many of those objects possess.
Seneca Productions has been filming Grayson since the inception of this project, and will produce a broadcast documentary to tie in with the BM show. We aim to offer some uniquely intimate insights into an artist’s creative processes.
