This documentary about the pleasures and pitfalls of going on holiday is based on Alain de Botton’s best-selling book, The Art of Travel. The film is a witty, thought-provoking examination of why we travel and of what can go wrong when we do so. As the point of going travelling is usually to be happy, when things don’t go as we planned, we tend to end up doubly unhappy: not just unhappy, but unhappy that we’re unhappy.
